I was contacted by a sales person from BYJUS claiming to be a senior education counsellor. I had contacted their website for looking at the IAS coaching program. She said that I am eligible for scholarship and she is giving me a **% discount after one small essay writing test and personal interview. This is all just a scam as no one was there except her on the zoom call which she claimed to be an interview. She urged me to choose either a one year plan of ₹***** or a two year plan of ₹*,**,***. I initially chose the one year online coaching program. She made me pay ***** at **pm that day, saying it was very urgent and that limited seats are only available. Next day too, she called me multiple times to pay the remaining amount. I paid ***** that day. Now, by around **.**pm a person claiming to be from admission, urged me to pay an additional ***** for the two year coaching program.
She said that the one year program vacancies were over by the time I paid and that I can only take the two year plan. by this time, I was totally confused whether this is just a corporate tactic or a real scenario. However I decided to proceed and paid the remaining amount. They were urging me so much that they have to send my name in the final list.
When I discussed this with my family, they were totally against it as they was no transparency. I also came to know that they would provide a low spec tablet and that the optional subject.was not included from the salesperson. But she said the optional subject would be part of this program, before payment. So I requested them to refund my money and not to place the order.
The sales manager suggested to place the order and then cancel it by refusing to accept the tablet and books. I told them clearly not to do that and cancel my registration. I have been following up for * days and no effort is seen to be done.
I have complained through mail and call multiple times but it never seems to sink in. The sales person and the sales manager are not attending and responding my calls.
I feel I have been trapped and scared as this is a pretty big amount.
