A near perfect trip spoiled by MakeMyTrip. We booked the cab to take us to Ooty and back via MakeMyTrip. They took **% as advance online. After that they did not bother. That is their cut. They hand over the booking to a vendor. This vendor could not come himself so he sent his brother from Vellore who could not understand either English or Hindi and had never been to Ooty. He also did not understand navigation and took wrong turns if we were not alert. MakeMyTrip did not respond to telephonic calls before the trip started. We kept on waiting to connect but then had no option but to take that cab as it was getting late. I sent an email and was given a complaint number. Still no response. I somehow managed to call and demand compensation. The gentleman promised to call back within ** min and arrange another driver. That call never came and we were stuck with this driver.
Imagine all the time checking your Google maps instead of enjoying the scenery. Besides, he had no experience of mountain driving and could not control the car on a slope.
The worst was yet to come. GPS told my son that it was a half hour run from the airport to his house, so he decided to drop us at the airport and then go home. Meanwhile his phone battery had gone dead with all this GPS browsing. He found himself in huge traffic. On checking the cab GPS, he found that the driver had taken an entirely different route because his internet was off! It took him more time to reach his house within the city than it took us to reach Delhi.
No compensation, no apology even from MakeMyTrip. Yesterday, I decided to give them another chance by filing a complaint on their Facebook page. They told me to give them time to resolve the issue with the vendor. ** hours have passed, still no response. I also received an email saying that my problem is resolved. We had to pay the full amount though we could hardly travel.
Never book a cab through MakeMyTrip. In March, we had booked through a private cab owner and the driver had taken us for sightseeing without any hassle. With this driver, we lost an entire day because he got lost while we visited Botanical gardens.
