Shine.com
- Misleading or incremental payment Closed
PUSHKAR Lal DANGI filed this complaint against Shine.com on Jan 08, 2026
I was defrauded of Rs. **,*** by Shine.com (HT Media Ltd) through deceptive trade practices, forced service activation, and evidence tampering.
*. Incremental Payment Fraud & Immediate Refusal (December **, ****):
On December **, ****, Shine.com representatives coerced me into making multiple payments totaling Rs. **,*** using incremental payment tactics (demanding small amounts, then drastically increasing demands to Rs. **,***+). I immediately refused the services and requested a refund within hours of the transaction, explicitly stating in writing that I did not wish to proceed. Despite my immediate refusal and the fact that I have not used a single service, they forced the activation of the account to block my refund.
*. Prior Complaints Registered:
Due to the company's refusal to refund, I have already registered the following complaints:
Cyber Crime Portal (****): Report No. ************** (Status: Filed for Further Investigation).
National Consumer Helpline (NCH): Docket No. *******.
Despite these formal grievances, the company has failed to provide a resolution.
*. Admission of Liability (January *, ****):
Despite acknowledging my refund request for Rs. **,***, the company refused to pay. However, on January *, ****, on a recorded call, their Manager, Ms. Apurba Shukla, explicitly offered a **% Refund to settle the case "out of the box." Minutes later, she sent an email denying the refund and citing a "No Refund Policy". This contradiction proves their policy is arbitrary and they are aware they are illegally holding my funds.
*. Evidence Tampering & Data Violation (January *, ****):
After I issued a formal Cease & Desist notice, the company engaged in evidence tampering:
Fabricated Delivery: On January *, ****, I received "Welcome Emails" for courses (CTI Kaushal, Testprep, ERB) claiming I ordered them on December **, ****. Sending access credentials ** days late and backdating the order date is a deliberate attempt to manufacture fake proof of service delivery for the police investigation.
Privacy Breach: They shared my personal data with unauthorized third-party vendors (HireSure.ai/CompUp) against my will to force engagement.
