- Delay in Closure of SBM Bank Account Despite Repeated Requests Open

I am writing to lodge a complaint against State Bank of Mauritius (India) Limited (SBM Bank India) for unreasonable delay and deficiency in service related to the closure of my bank account.
I submitted a formal request for closure of my SBM Bank account via email on *st February. In the same email, I clearly stated that I do not wish to claim or receive the remaining balance amount in the account and requested the bank to proceed with account closure at the earliest.
As per the bank’s own service standards, the timeline for closing a bank account is ** working days. However, more than ** days have passed, and my account has still not been closed.
Despite making multiple follow-up calls to customer support, no concrete action has been taken. I have neither received a proper update nor confirmation of account closure. The repeated calls have resulted in assurances only, without any resolution.
This prolonged delay has caused mental stress, inconvenience, and unnecessary waste of time, and clearly amounts to deficiency in banking service and failure to adhere to prescribed timelines.
I request the concerned authority to:
Direct SBM Bank India to immediately close my bank account, and
Take appropriate action for non-compliance with service timelines.
